*Here's a description of what you will be doing and who you are working with:

You will be staying in Lira, which is located in Northern Uganda and is about a five hour drive from the capital, Kampala. You will be working with Bishop Ogema at Victory Outreach Ministries. This is a missions-minded church with many diverse ministries. Currently, the church has three schools with around 1,000 students. They are also running a monthly HIV/AIDS program to give check-ups for the local people. The other ministries the church is involved with include the following:

1] 7 Primary schools and 1 High school.

2] 4 Child development centres (compassion driven).

3] Ministry farm.

4] People living with HIV/AIDS (about 1000 People).

5] Church Ministries

Daily lunch hour prayers, daily radio program, preaching branch churches,

Praise and worship, discipleship class, and youth ministries.

6] Evangelism (door-to-door, crusades).

7] Prison ministry.

8] Hospital ministry.

9] Water hygiene and sanitation.

10] Office work.

11] Computer training.

12] Small group meetings.

13] Community visitation - loving them.

14] Media (Photography and documentation).

15] Services in our Health units.

16] Tractor and motor vehicle repairs.

As for additional packing suggestions (outside of what is already listed on your profile). They reminded me that you will not need any heavy clothes here (it will be warm!). The only other thing they ask is that ladies need to bring skirts that go past your knees. It is very important for this culture to dress modestly. When in doubt, ask!

I'm so excited for you guys! I spent a month this past year about eight hours outside of Kampala (the capital) and you're going to love it. Uganda is absolutely beautiful—people and environment!  Let me know if you need anything else!
