Hey Y'all
My name is Jessica. You can call me Jessica or Jess whichever, I really have no preference. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia but I was raised in Norcross, which is about 15 minutes north of Atlanta. I graduated high school in 2008 from Greater Atlanta Christian School (GACS). I currently live in Statesboro, Georgia where I am a junior at Georgia Southern University. I am majoring in Child and Family Development with an emphasis in Child Life. I do no currently have a job but I babysit once a week for a local couple if that counts for anything lol. As far as mooching of my parents...I wouldn't say that I totally do that. I do work back at home in the warehouse of my mom's job during breaks and summers. The money I get from that usually last me a while. I pay for all my extras and my parents pay for my rent, utilities, and food.
I stay pretty busy but when I do have some spare time I like to read, go get froyo and/or coffee with friends, serve at 7 Bridges to Recovery (and awesome ministry if any of you are from the Atlanta area), play Dance Central or Bowling on the Konnect with my brothers, and take pictures with Bella (my cannon...yes I am that girl that name almost everything lol). I a member of Alpha Delta Chi Christian Sorority where I hold and executive office and I member of The Swing Cats Society where I hold an office as well. I am involved in Connection Church here in Statesboro where God is doing some pretty awesome things.
As for likes, dislikes, random facts...I am pretty easy going. I love people, have a sixth sense when it comes to people. I am pretty good at reading people and connecting with them. I LOVE coffee. Like I almost have a problem lol. I have five younger brothers 17, 9, 8, 3, and 2 years old. I love them dearly. i am close with each of them in a different way and they have all taught me so much. I have a very special relationship with my 3 year old brother Xen. I know God put in my life to save me. He is a constant reminder of God's love for me and I can't imagine my life without him. I have 2 tattoo (one on my foot and one the back of my shoulder) and I want more :) My best friend is constantly calling me a 5 year old (not in a bad way...so he says). I think it is cause I get excited about the little things in life and see with child's eyes. Children in my opinion are very intuitive and see and know more than people give them credit for. I also love to swing dance.
I have been on 3 other international mission trips. Twice to Athens, Greece and Once to Namibia, Africa. Namibia was by far the most life changing experience I have ever had. I have never felt God so strong in my life. God also opened my eye to things that I need to change and give up to Him in order to be able to fully serve him, which sadly I am still working on (slow and steady wins the race right). God has given me the ability to love blindly which I used to think was a bad thing but He is showing my that it is really a good thing. My ability to love people where there at is probably what I like most about myself. I have also been on several local mission trips in the Atlanta inner-city area. All these trips were done through my high school both while I attended and as Alum.
I am so excited about this trip! I know God is working in the hearts and minds of the people we will be coming in contact with and in the hearts and minds of each of you. I can't wait to meet all of you! The African people are a wonderful people and I am so excited to be getting back there!
Psalm 18:24 (MSG) God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes. If we are willing to open our hearts and minds to God I know that he will amazing things through and in each of us!
Sorry this was so long.
Love Always,
Jess
