Hey everyone,
My name is Jon Busk, and I am from Huntsville, Alabama. I just recently turned 20 (on Monday) and I am a sophomore at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I was going to school for studio art, but have recently felt a strong pull towards transferring and getting a degree in some sort of ministry like missions or youth.
I come from an awesome family, with 5 siblings, two of them being adopted from China. I work 2 jobs, one for my dads business, and also for Firehouse Subs. Also, last summer I worked for a camp called CentriKid, which is run by LifeWay. I was a bible study leader, sport coach/teacher, and lead guitarist for the worship band for about 9 weeks. It was an awesome experience, and I absolutely loved hanging out with the kids. I am also pretty active with the youthgroup at my home church. I am on staff with the Highschool youth, and teach sunday school to the 6th grade boys every week.
When I'm not working, schooling, or churching, you typically will find me outside, either building longboards or riding longboards. 2 years ago I taught myself how to construct longboard skateboards from scratch, and have been building and selling them ever since. This is pretty much my main and only hobby. It consumed a lot of my time, and I love doing it. I also go snowboarding as many times as I can a year, which is not that often since I live in Alabama....but I try.
I have never been on a mission trip besides going to M-Fuge, a missions focussed camp in Nashville. It was a great experience, and really sparked my interest for missions. I kind of randomly stumbled upon this trip over the internet one day, while I was trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm glad I did, and am super excited to meet everyone and serve with you all this summer! I can't wait to see what God does in our lives and the lives of the people we are serving!
